Arcanum Entertainment presents: "Bria Discotheque"

Introduction

Welcome to the Bria Discotheque page!

This is my first attempt at producing a SWG video so be gentle. :)

The video

To get the video, please right click and select to "Save As..." on the following link:

Bria Discotheque   (WMV, 720*560, 49Mb)

I'm asking you to save the video rather than stream it in the event you want to see it more than once (one can always hope :) ), as that will help me save my bandwidth. This video is also a test of my ISP's claims of "unlimited bandwidth!". ;)

The file is a mammoth 49Mb in size. If you are on dial-up, I feel your pain because I am too. It took me 5 hours to upload it.

Amendment to the credits

I ran out of space and time in my credits. While they specifically mention the Gypsies and ENT's on Bria, I met some great people from other guilds there as well (FR, E-U, ...). Please consider yourself included in my acknowledgements.

The footage

A couple of weeks ago I created a character on Bria in preparation of the 8th cantina crawl. There I met some great people, including a very lively group of entertainers that I've been jamming with. The footage is a mix of one such night of partying with them and of what I shot at the awe inspiring Cantina Crawl VIII.

The music

While thinking of making a video, I considered several songs to accompany it. But it was not until I thought of the deliciously fitting and somewhat cheesy song I had heard in a movie called "Kal Ho Naa Ho" that I knew I had found a perfect match.

"Kal Ho Naa Ho" is a Bollywood movie. Bollywood is the Indian movie industry. It produces more films than Hollywood every year. There are some gems in that abundant output.

There are two things that Bollywood knows well: entertainment and musicals. Most of the Bollywood movies (yes, even thrillers or dramas) have musical numbers in them. If you enjoy musicals and have never sampled a Bollywood movie, you are missing out, IMHO. And even if you want to try something different from the usual Hollywood output, you might find something you'll like in the Bollywood output.

If you are curious and want some recommendations of movies to start with, feel free to write to me.

The software

To capture the footage, I used the ubiquitous FRAPS software.

To edit the video, I used the free but frustrating Movie Maker 2 (I won't say anymore to remain polite but I'll have nightmares for a long time of trying to save my edited project into a movie). Fix it Microsoft!

Additional acknowledgements

To my fellow House Arcanum PA members, on Chilastra for being such good friends and such nice people!

If you ever drop by Chilastra, come visit us in our city: Mos Arcanum, not far from Mos Eisley on Tatooine. Send a tell to Medecihn or Ka'neka and I'll give you directions.

That's it. I hope you'll enjoy the video...
